St Matts, SMCF or St Matthews Community Fellowship is a group of people of all ages and backgrounds who have come together to spend time with each other and God on a regular basis.
We are part of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church Family.
We spend time in study and fellowship. Our tools are the Bible, friendship, music and food!
Every Sabbath (Saturday) you will find us at:
43 Melton Street
From 10am-10:30am for prayer and then from 10:30am to 13:00pm for family worship.
God has given us a purpose and joy which we want to share with each other and you! Our mission is to be known in our community as a place of support, assistance and encouragement. Our aim is to serve our community by meeting their needs as well as introducing them to our Hope.
The Leicester Kashume School in Gambia was built as a result of the efforts of The Leicester Central and St Matthews Community Fellowship churches as well as The Kaine Management Group.
The school was originally built to provide schooling for 20 children in the village of Kashume but now well over 150 children attend the school. As you can see the school is still a work in progress and indeed it is too small for the students that we have.
We have recently built accommodation for our teachers as well as an extension to the school, due to the urgent need for more space the extension has been built from wood and leaves. We would like to raise money to properly extent the school.
As well as a school the building serves as a church and a community centre. The well that you can see in the picture provides fresh water to this and the surrounding villages. This is something that we wish to extend so that more people have access to fresh water.
